This policy covers the Nightshift public website, hosted workspace, and pilot inquiry form. Nightshift is maintained by Thabhelo Duve. Participating campuses must establish their own arrangements for lab computers before enrolling them.
When you visit
The website is hosted by Cloudflare. Delivering and protecting the site involves processing technical request information such as your IP address, browser information, requested pages, and request times. Cloudflare may retain service or security logs under its own policies. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.
The public marketing pages do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts. The workspace sets a secure sign-in cookie that expires after seven days. It is used to authenticate you, not to track advertising activity. Hosting and security services may process information independently of that code.
Workspace accounts and computing tasks
When you use email sign-in, we send your email address and a one-time verification code through Brevo. Codes expire after ten minutes. If you enable task emails, we also send your email address, task command, completion or failure status, and a link to your task through Brevo when the task finishes. You can turn these emails off when submitting a task. We store your email address, account role, session records, task commands, status, and operational audit records in Cloudflare D1. Uploaded projects and result archives are stored privately in Cloudflare R2; task logs are stored in D1. Enrolled lab machines receive projects assigned to them. IT administrators can review membership, machine information, and task metadata.
Task files, results, and logs remain available until an operator removes them; there is currently no automatic task-deletion schedule. Expired sessions and verification records are cleaned up automatically. Please do not upload passwords, access tokens, private student records, or other sensitive data. To request account or task-data deletion, contact the address below.
Optional campus single sign-on
When enabled, Google sign-in redirects you to that provider. Nightshift requests basic identity information and your email address, checks that it ends in .edu, and stores the provider’s account identifier linked to your Nightshift account. We do not request access to your inbox, contacts, or documents, and we do not store provider access or refresh tokens. Some accounts also require a one-time email-code check before they can be linked. Temporary sign-in state expires after ten minutes.
When you ask about a pilot
The form asks for your name, college, role, email address, approximate lab size, and any message you choose to provide. It prepares an email in your own mail app and displays a copy on the page. It does not submit those fields to a website database or send the email automatically. You choose whether to send it.
If you send the email, its contents and sender details are delivered to thabhelo.duve@talladega.edu through the email services involved. They can be used to respond to your inquiry and discuss a potential pilot. Your mail app may also retain a draft or sent copy. Please do not include passwords, student records, or other sensitive information in the form.
Email records and service providers
Sent inquiries may remain in email accounts and provider backups. Retention depends on the email providers and applicable account policies; this website does not enforce an automatic deletion schedule for email. Hosting and email providers process information as part of delivering their services.
Your choices and questions
You can browse without completing the form, leave optional fields blank, or choose not to send the prepared email. To ask about information you have sent, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy question, email thabhelo.duve@talladega.edu. Available rights and any limits on deletion depend on applicable law and provider policies.
